Tension and Compression Testing:
Tension and Compression tests are conducted on an impressive range of machines with capacities from 0.01 kg to 453,500 kg. Strain ranges vary from 50% for cryogenic and room temperatures and 30% for elevated temperatures with speeds up to 500 mm/min.  Tests can be conducted in various atmospheres including argon, vacuum, open air and liquid mediums with temperatures ranging from liquid helium to over 1204° C.

Our proprietary testing software provides us with the capability to run tests at various strain rates, crosshead speeds, load ranges, and strain ranges as your requirement demands.

We are experienced in testing Micro Tensiles with less than a 12.7mm length to full section parts over 25.4mm thick.

Bend Testing:
Bend testing is conducted on standard materials, welded materials, and full size parts.  Specimens are tested using various diameter mandrels, as well as different angles of bending, according to customer or specification requirements. Welder performance and weld procedure qualifications in accordance with specifications such as ASME Section IX and AWS B4.0 are performed regularly.  These tests include Root, Face, and Side Bends.  The standard methods used for Bend testing are Guided, Semi-guided, and Wrap-around procedures.  Specimen configurations range from 0.0254mm. sheet to over 25.4mm thick plate.

Superior technology, responsive versatility, and quality performance ensures reliable and fast turnaround on your test results.

Charpy & Izod Impact Testing:
Impact testing consists of Charpy and Izod specimen configurations.   The Charpy tests are conducted on instrumented machines capable of measuring less than 1.3 joules to 406 Jules. lbs. at temperatures ranging from liquid helium to over 1093° C. Specimen types include notch configurations such as V-Notch, U-Notch, Key-Hole Notch, as well as unnotched and ISO V-Notch with capabilities of testing sub size specimens down to ¼ size.  Izod testing can be done up to 325 joules on standard single notch and type-X3 specimens.

Through our conscientious attention to detail, you can have confidence in accurate and timely test results.

Fastener Testing:
Fastener and Pull testing are conducted on machines with up to 453,500 kg. capacity.  Setups include fixtures for bolts, nuts, bars, cables, all-threads, tubes, universal joints, chains and other full-size parts. Tests such as Proof test, Breaking Load, Wedge test, Stripping test, Shear and Ultimate Load are also performed regularly at WMT&R®.  These tests are performed according to the current fastener acts, military specifications, and customer supplied specifications.

Drop Weight Testing:
Drop Weight testing is performed to ASTM E208.  This test is conducted to determine the nil ductility transition temperature (NDT) of materials, and tests can also be conducted to your temperature requirements from room temperature down to -195° C. Specimen options include P-2 and P-3.
