Surface Roughness

At WMT&R, Ltd. Surface Roughness is evaluated using the Mahr Perthometer. The Mahr Perthometer is a laser based measurement system and as such, is capable of a higher degree of accuracy than stylus type measuring equipment due to some troughs being smaller than the radius of the diamond tip on a stylus system.

The capabilities of the Mahr Perthometer:

Laser accuracy to measure and map surface fluctuations on a specimen to a resolution of 1 micron,

Three dimensional, and two dimensional, profiles created, as well as single line x/y traces,

Roughness and Waviness parameters determined.
