Westmoreland Mechanical Testing and Research, (WMT&R) Ltd. was launched in April 2003 with the opening of state-of-the-art laboratories in Banbury’s Beaumont Road Industrial Estate. The high-tech labs provide a range of standard and special one-off tests for customers in the aerospace, automotive, nuclear, off-shore and medical industries. Most materials, in any shape or form can be mechanically tested and/or chemically analyzed.

     The move into the UK represents a firm commitment to expanding the companies World-Class services into the European and Asian marketplace for materials testing services. We are already one of the largest single independent providers of materials testing in Europe and continually adding to our capacity as the business develops. In the UK, additional to our state-of-the -art core mechanical testing facilities, we also have niche capability in certain areas These include surface engineering technology, bonding, and various corrosion test methods. We also have excellent metallographic support, a pneumatic coating adhesion test, chemical analysis and salt spray facilities, including Lockheed testing.

     The testing capacity doubled within the first year of business and continues to grow. The fatigue testing facility alone is now thought to be the largest ‘independent’ laboratory of its kind in Europe! An extensive CNC machine shop enables production of test specimens on site.

     The customer base is diverse with business coming from the UK, Europe and Asia. The company is actively seeking to secure long term agreements with major customers from various industrial and engineering sectors.
